Royal International University (RIU) is a private university in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. It was founded on 1 May 2010 as the Mongolian Royal Academy, alongside Ikh Zasag University, and received permission to operate as an independent higher-education institution — Royal International University — by Order No. 236 of the Minister of Education and Science on 23 June 2011.
From its first year, RIU looked outward: since August 2010 it has served as the official Mongolian representative of three UK professional bodies — the Institute of Administrative Management (IAM), the Confederation of Tourism and Hospitality (CTH), and the Institute of Commercial Management (ICM).
Today the university teaches bachelor and master programs across business, law, international relations, tourism, public administration, design, architecture, and teacher education — with English-taught tracks and 2+2 / 1+1 pathways to partner universities abroad.
